The experience

Four to five hours is enough to move through Pokhara's main natural and cultural sites without rushing. You start with Phewa Lake, a freshwater expanse that sits at the heart of the valley and frames the city. From there the route takes you to Devi's Falls, where water drops and forms a tunnel that runs 100 feet below ground level, then across to Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave on the opposite side: the same water from the falls flows through it. The driver explains what you're seeing at each stop, so you understand the geology and the local stories without having to research beforehand.

The tour also includes the Bindhyabasini temple, the oldest in Pokhara and devoted to the goddess Bindhyabasini, and a stop at the Seti River gorge, where the water has carved a dramatic passage through the valley. The World Peace Buddha Temple rounds out the afternoon with views back over the lake and mountains.
