The experience

Sandwich Harbour is the centerpiece: giant dunes run straight into the Atlantic, and you stop on top of unforgettable viewpoints to watch the desert and ocean meet. Your guide sets up a table with snacks and sparkling wine while you take in the landscape. The drive there takes you through Namib Naukluft Park, the oldest desert in the world, on exhilarating 4x4 beach driving where you might spot oryx, springbok, black-backed jackal, ostrich or brown hyena moving through the harsh terrain.

The route also covers Pelican Point, home to 50,000 Cape Fur seals, and the Walvis Bay lagoon where thousands of flamingos gather alongside Great White Pelicans, Marsh Sandpipers, Caspian Terns and Three-banded Plovers. You'll drive past the Walvis Bay salt works and stop at the pink water lakes for photos. The scenic coastline drive frames the whole day, and you may see dolphins or whales from the water's edge.
