The Experience
Your driver picks you up at your Marrakech hotel at 8:30 AM and drives you toward the Atlas Mountains in an air-conditioned vehicle. The camel ride comes first—a 15 to 20-minute stretch through the foothills where you'll wear traditional djellaba and a scarf for photos and the feel of it. After that, you sit down for a traditional Moroccan breakfast of fresh bread, olive oil, honey, amlou and mint tea, then visit a local argan oil cooperative to watch how the oil is extracted and learn what it's used for in cooking and skincare.
If the weekly market (souk) is running on your tour day, you'll walk through the stalls of local produce, spices and handicrafts before heading deeper into the mountains. The guided hike lasts about an hour and takes you through valleys, past traditional villages and terraced fields. Your mountain guide talks about how people live there, the traditions that shape the region, and the landscape itself. The hike ends at a local Berber home where you're welcomed in for lunch—tagine, couscous, mint tea, and views of the mountains while you eat. After lunch and a rest, the drive back to Marrakech takes the afternoon.
