Buggy riding in Marrakech: 1000cc desert ride with camel
Two hours operating a 1000cc buggy instead of watching one pass by
A two-hour buggy ride in the Palmeraie palm grove north of Marrakech puts you behind the wheel of a 1000cc buggy on rocky desert terrain dotted with palm trees, arid hills and steep tracks. Hotel pickup is included; a professional guide briefs you on equipment and driving before you set out, and the route passes through Berber villages where you stop for mint tea. After the buggy section, you switch to camel for a desert crossing at sunset. Safety gear — helmet, mask and head covering — is provided.
The Experience
Your driver picks you up at your hotel or riad in Marrakech's city center and heads north to the base camp, where you meet the crew chief and your guide. After a safety briefing and equipment check, you get a driving introduction so you're ready to operate the buggy yourself. The 1000cc buggy handles rocky plains, arid hills, river crossings and steep tracks — the terrain changes as you move through the landscape, and the route takes you past typical Berber villages where the day slows down for mint tea and a look at how the villagers live.
After the buggy section, you trade the vehicle for a camel and ride through the desert toward sunset. The Palmeraie's unique beauty — hundreds of palm trees scattered across rocky ground — shows differently from a camel's pace than it did from the buggy. You'll have time to sit with the landscape and the light before heading back to Marrakech.
Children under five can ride along with an adult; the buggy is insured and supervised throughout. The gear provided — helmet, mask and head covering — stays with you for the whole ride. A guide fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, French and other languages is with you the whole time, so language is not a barrier to understanding the terrain or the villages you pass through.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to operate the buggy yourself rather than ride as a passenger — the two-hour drive puts you in control on rocky, hilly terrain, and the camel crossing afterward shifts the pace entirely. Skip it if spinal injuries, pregnancy or cardiovascular concerns apply to you, or if you prefer a guided tour where someone else handles the driving.

What's the difference between the two buggy options listed?
The Zforce 1000cc Buggy Ride and the excursion Buggys to the Palmeraie are the two available options at checkout. Both follow the same route through the palm grove with camel and tea included; the difference lies in the specific buggy model. Choose based on which vehicle appeals to you — both are professional-grade and suitable for the terrain.
Do I need buggy experience to ride the 1000cc?
No. The guide gives you a safety briefing, equipment explanation and driving introduction before you set out, so both experienced riders and newcomers can handle it safely. The guide stays with you throughout.
What happens at the Berber villages during the ride?
The buggy route passes through typical Berber villages where you stop for a break. You'll have mint tea and a chance to see how the inhabitants live, then continue on the rocky terrain toward the palm grove.
Is the sunset camel ride included, or is it an add-on?
The camel ride through the desert at sunset is included in the excursion. After the buggy section, you switch to camel for the final part of the experience before returning to Marrakech.
How long is the whole experience from pickup to drop-off?
The buggy and camel ride itself takes two hours. Add time for hotel pickup, the drive to the base camp, the safety briefing and the return journey to Marrakech — plan for a half-day outing from your hotel.
What safety gear do I get, and what should I bring?
Helmet, mask and a head covering (Charlotte) are provided and included. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty and closed-toe shoes suitable for desert terrain and buggy operation.
