PickupAt your hotel

Four desert moments in a single night: quads, camels, tagine, and fire.

This evening activity in the Agafay Desert combines a 40-minute quad bike ride, a sunset camel ride, traditional Moroccan dinner with tagine and couscous, and live Berber music and fire show, departing from Marrakech with round-trip hotel pickup. You choose your option at checkout: camel ride and dinner only, quad biking and camel ride together, or a solo quad ride plus the camel ride. The guide speaks English, Spanish, French or Arabic.

The Experience

Your driver picks you up from your hotel around 3 p.m. and heads south toward the Agafay Desert. On the way, there's a short stop at a women's argan oil cooperative—a chance to see how traditional Moroccan products are made, have mint tea, and use the facilities. Shopping is optional. Once you reach the desert camp, the pace shifts from driving to doing.

The quad ride comes first: 40 minutes of riding through the rocky desert landscape on a guided tour, either as a double ride or solo depending on which option you picked. After that, you mount a camel for a slower, quieter ride timed to catch the sunset. The light changes fast over the desert, and the camel moves at a pace that lets you actually watch it happen instead of racing past it.

Dinner happens in the camp as the sun goes down. You eat Moroccan tagine, couscous, fresh salads, and drink mint tea while live musicians play and performers do traditional dances and a fire show. The whole evening—from pickup to drop-off back at your hotel—takes about 5.5 hours. Children from age 1 can come; infants can ride in a stroller or specialized seat.

Top questions

How does the quad biking work—do I ride alone or with someone else?

The quad ride is a double ride by default, meaning you share the bike with another rider. If you want to ride solo for the full hour instead, that's the third option at checkout, and it includes the camel ride and dinner as well.

What time does the activity end, and will I be back at my hotel late?

The whole experience runs about 5.5 hours from pickup to drop-off. Since pickup is around 3 p.m., you'll be back at your hotel by roughly 8:30 or 9 p.m., depending on traffic and your location in Marrakech.

Is the camel ride suitable for someone who's never ridden before?

The camel ride is described as peaceful and is suitable for all fitness levels. It's a sunset ride, not a long trek, so it's designed to be accessible. Children from age 1 can participate, though the activity is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.

Do I need to know Arabic or French to enjoy the live show?

The guide speaks English, Spanish, French, and Arabic, so you'll have translation and explanation throughout the evening. The fire show and music are visual and auditory experiences that don't rely on language to be understood.

What happens at the argan oil cooperative stop—do I have to buy anything?

The stop is a short visit to see how traditional Moroccan products are made, with mint tea and restroom access included. Shopping is completely optional; you're not obligated to purchase anything.
