The experience
The ride begins at 10am or three hours before sunset, departing from a ranch near Diabat, a small village close to Essaouira. You'll ride Arabian-Barb horses: calm, well-trained animals for beginners, or spirited mounts capable of dream gallops in the sand for experienced riders. A professional guide conducts the group along the wide beach, passing the shoreline, dunes, and a small fishing village before turning back through forest of eucalyptus and mimosa. Pickup and drop-off from Essaouira are included, and the ride is adapted for sportive beginners and children with prior horse experience.
At the end of the three-hour ride, you arrive at the camp made of Berber tents. Dinner is a typical Moroccan meal. Breakfast follows the next morning before the return journey to town. Bottled water and afternoon tea are provided during the ride. Helmets are supplied, and the guide speaks English, Italian, French, or Arabic depending on the group. The overnight accommodation is in the tent camp itself, so there is no additional hotel stay.
Book at least 15 working days ahead. The operator needs that time to obtain camp authorization from local authorities. Maximum rider weight is 90kg. Vegetarian options and any specific dietary requirements can be arranged if you advise at booking. The experience operates in all weather, so dress appropriately for the coast.
