A photographer follows you through the Sahara, not the other way around.

This private tour of Dakhla pairs you with a professional photographer and guide for a full day exploring White Dune, Puerto Rico Beach, Sebkha of Imlili and a traditional Sahrawi tent, with hotel pickup and lunch included. You choose the poses and outfits. The photographer handles the angles and light. The tour runs 5 to 9 hours depending on which stops you visit, and you can customize each photo session or skip locations that don't appeal to you.

Step-by-step itinerary

Photography tour of Dakhla highlights

  • Pickup from hotel at 9:30 am
  • Photo session at White Dune
  • Photo session at Puerto Rico Beach
  • Visit Sebkha of Imlili and optional fish pedicure
  • Traditional Sahrawi tent visit with tea, meal, and attire
  • Therapeutic hot spring experience at Ain Asmaa

The experience

Hotel pickup starts at 9:30 am, and your guide and photographer travel with you the whole day. The route moves through four main stops, each chosen for a different kind of light and landscape. White Dune sits 45 kilometers from the city and hosts white flamingos depending on the season. The photographer will work with you on poses against the dunes, or suggest angles if you want ideas. You can wear what you brought or change outfits between stops to create variety in the shots.

Puerto Rico Beach comes next, with golden sand, rocks and turquoise water for a second photo session. Then you head into the Sahara to Sebkha of Imlili, where carnivorous fish offer a natural pedicure by nibbling dead skin. You can photograph the experience or skip it and move on. A traditional Sahrawi tent is your lunch stop: you'll eat nomad's camel meat with rice, drink Sahrawi tea, try on traditional clothing and sit for portraits with the photographer. The day ends at Ain Asmaa, a natural hot spring in the desert dunes where water flows at around 38°C. The sulphurous water is meant to have healing properties, and it's a place to soak after hours of moving between locations.

Your guide speaks English or Arabic, and the photographer works with your preferences: discuss ideas beforehand or let them suggest poses that work with the light and the landscape. Hotel pickup and lunch are included. You bring the outfits and the willingness to stand in front of the camera while someone else handles the technical side.
