From there, the route moves to Puerto Rico beach, a stretch of royal sand that sits between the dune country and the coastal flats. The third stop is Imlili, a rare desert formation where salt water pools sit isolated in the middle of the sand: a biological oddity that few travelers encounter outside this circuit.

Lunch happens in the Imlili desert itself, under a khaima (traditional Sahrawi tent). You'll eat maro blhem, the classic meat and rice dish cooked the Sahrawi way, drink local tea, and eat bread baked directly in the sand.
