The experience
This isn't a guided tour where you follow someone talking at the group. You get a puzzle map at the start, then move through the medina's blue alleyways at your own pace, stopping at five stations where real locals (weavers, bakers, artisans) pose you questions rooted in Chefchaouen's Andalusian roots, its famous residents, and the crafts still practiced in the workshops around you. Each correct answer is a word. Collect all five and you have the clue to the final location.
The route takes in Outa El Hammam, Ras El Ma, artisan workshops, and hidden passages most visitors miss. You're not watching a demonstration or listening to a script. You're solving something, talking to people who actually work there, and learning the town's stories through the questions they ask. The pace is yours (linger in a workshop, take photos, ask follow-up questions), because the game only moves forward when you have the answer.
At the end, you reach a 300-year-old house where the final prize waits. Bottled water and coffee or tea are included. A guide is available in English, Spanish, or French if you need one, though the game is designed to work on its own. The whole thing runs about 90 minutes from start to finish.
What’s included

- bottled water.
- coffee and/or tea.

Is this one for you?The activity starts in the medina and moves at your own pace, so you don't need a car or a guide shepherding the group. You follow the puzzle map and stop when and where you choose. This works well if you're staying in the old town or nearby and want to explore on your terms while meeting locals who actually live and work there.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and French.
What happens if I get an answer wrong at one of the five stops?
The locals will guide you toward the right answer. The game is built for you to solve it, not to stump you. You keep trying until you have the word you need to move forward.
Can I do this puzzle game alone, or do I have to be in a group?
The activity works solo, with a partner, or in a small group. You move through the medina at your own pace and meet the locals at each station independently, so group size doesn't affect how the game plays.
What are the five locations where I'll meet locals and answer questions?
The stops include Outa El Hammam, Ras El Ma, artisan workshops, and hidden alleyways throughout the medina. The exact sequence is part of the puzzle map you receive at the start, designed to guide you through key cultural sites and meeting points with local artisans and shopkeepers.
Do I need to know anything about Chefchaouen's history before I start?
No prior knowledge is needed. The questions the locals ask are based on Chefchaouen's history, legends, and daily life, but they're designed to be answerable through observation, conversation, and the clues embedded in the game itself.
Is this activity suitable if I'm not very fit or if I have mobility concerns?
The activity is suitable for all physical fitness levels. It's a walking exploration of the medina at your own pace over about 90 minutes, so you can take breaks whenever you need them and move as slowly as the puzzle-solving allows.
