The Experience

Kotor sits at the southern end of a fjord-like bay, and the cable car is the fastest way to see it whole. You ride from the lower station up the mountainside in a few minutes, watching the medieval rooftops and harbor shrink below you until the entire Bay of Kotor spreads out in one view. At the summit of Mount Lovćen, you have free time to stand in the panorama, take photos, or grab a drink at Monte 1360 Bar while the Adriatic coast stretches to the horizon.

After descending, a local guide leads you through Kotor Old Town on foot—a UNESCO World Heritage Site built into narrow medieval streets and squares. St. Tryphon Cathedral sits at the heart of it, a Romanesque structure with centuries of artwork and architectural detail inside. The guide walks you through the town's maritime history and points out the layered stone walls that have held the old town together since medieval times. This part of the tour is included with admission.

If you book the 6-hour option, the tour extends to Budva, another old Adriatic settlement about 20 minutes south. A 45-minute guided walk covers its medieval streets and Venetian heritage before you stop at a viewpoint overlooking Sveti Stefan—a fortified island and one of Montenegro's most recognizable landmarks, now a luxury resort. The drive back to Kotor gives you time to settle before returning to your ship.
