The experience
The tour starts with a car transfer from Kotor Old Town to the cable car station. A 20-minute cable car ride lifts you 1,300 meters to Lovcen mountain, where the bay spreads below. After a short break to take in the panorama, you mount an electric mountain bike and ride 7km uphill toward Jezerski peak. The real climb begins when you dismount: 460 stairs lead to the mausoleum at 1,650 meters, where you can visit the tomb and statue of Njegos II Petrovic and look out over both Kotor Bay and Cetinje town.
A restaurant below the mausoleum serves coffee, tea and food during your break. From there, the descent begins on the same road you climbed, continuing downhill for 25km all the way back to Kotor. This route dates to the 19th century and is protected by UNESCO. It is also open to cars, so stay alert. You'll have chances to stop and photograph the bay. For an extra 15 euros per person, you can try a 400-meter zipline from the Krstac pass before the final easy downhill section.
Your guide speaks English and leads the group, which stays small. The tour includes the cable car ticket, national park entry, mausoleum admission, an electric mountain bike, helmet, bottled water, and the return transfer to Kotor Old Town. The ride demands some fitness (the uphill push and stair climb are real work), but the electric bike handles the steep grades, and the long descent is mostly coasting.

Is this one for you?You ride the electric bike yourself uphill and downhill, with a guide leading the group and managing the pace. This suits riders comfortable with 7km of assisted climbing, 460 stairs on foot, and 25km of descending on a mountain road shared with occasional cars. The physical demand is real, but the electric motor and long downhill make it manageable for most fitness levels.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How steep is the electric bike ride up to the mausoleum?
The electric MTB covers 7km uphill to the base of Jezerski peak, where the real challenge starts: 460 stairs to the mausoleum at 1,650 meters. The electric motor assists on the bike section, but the stair climb is on foot and unassisted.
What is the Njegos Mausoleum and why is it at the top of the mountain?
The mausoleum is the tomb of Njegos II Petrovic, a 19th-century prince-bishop of Montenegro. It sits at the peak of Lovcen mountain as a monument to his legacy, and visitors can see both his statue and his tomb inside.
How long is the downhill ride back to Kotor?
The downhill section covers 25km on a UNESCO-protected 19th-century road that descends all the way to Kotor. The route is mostly easy downhill coasting with photo stops along the way to view Kotor and Tivat bays.
Is the zipline included or an extra cost?
The zipline is optional and costs 15 euros per person if you choose to try it. It is a 400-meter line from the Krstac pass, offered during the break before the final downhill section.
What happens if I want to eat a full meal instead of just coffee and tea?
The restaurant below the mausoleum serves meals, and your guide can arrange a stop if you decide to order food. The cost of any meal is separate from the tour price.
