The Experience
Ten hours means you arrive, get your snorkel gear and tube, and move straight into the water. The inlet is the centerpiece—tropical fish swim close enough to see without searching, and the water stays clear enough that depth doesn't matter. You can float there as long as you want, or move to the river floats, which drift you through jungle canopy on an inflatable tube. The Scenic Lighthouse sits at the edge of the park; you climb it for 360° views, then slide back down into the water below.
The adventure side includes a rope course, zip-lines that launch you out over the water, and the Cliff of Courage—a 5-meter jump that's optional but marked. Cenotes (natural freshwater pools fed by underground rivers) are scattered through the jungle, and you can explore them on foot between water activities. Rest areas with lounge chairs and hammocks sit throughout the park so you can step out of the sun without leaving. Buffet meals run from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm, and drinks and snacks are unlimited all day, so you eat when you're hungry, not on a schedule.
Round-trip transport picks you up from your hotel in Cancún or Playa del Carmen and drops you back after the day ends. The park has designated smoking areas and enforces smoke-free zones, so air quality stays consistent. Children under 12 need to show ID at the gate; the only accepted ID is a valid passport presented in person, not a digital copy. Bring the same ID you submitted after booking—the lead traveler (whoever made the reservation) must present it at the Xcaret Box Office to validate the reservation before admission.

Is this one for you?Book this if you're staying in Cancún or Playa del Carmen without a rental car—transport is included both ways, so you don't arrange pickups or navigate to the park yourself. The all-inclusive meals and drinks mean you eat when you're hungry and never hunt for a restaurant or ATM between activities, which matters when you're spending a full day in the water and the sun.

What's the snorkeling actually like at Xel-Há?
Xel-Há's inlet is a natural, crystal-clear body of water where colorful tropical fish swim in shallow areas close to the shore. You snorkel directly in the inlet using included equipment, and the water clarity means you see marine life without needing to dive deep. The river floats let you snorkel while drifting downstream on a tube through jungle scenery.
Do I need to bring my own snorkel gear or is it included?
Snorkel equipment and an inflatable tube are included with your admission. A refundable deposit of $15.40 USD is required for the gear, which you get back when you return it at the end of the day.
What time does the park open and when do I need to arrive?
The park operates for a full 10-hour day. Round-trip transport from your Cancún or Playa del Carmen hotel is included, so your driver will coordinate pickup timing with your hotel location. Buffet meals are served from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm, so you can eat whenever you're ready during that window.
Are there activities for kids, or is this mainly for adults?
Xel-Há has a dedicated children's area and family-friendly activities throughout the park. The rope courses, zip-lines and cliff jumps have height and age requirements, but floating the river, snorkeling in shallow areas, and exploring cenotes work for families with children. Kids over 4.5 feet tall must show ID to verify their age at the gate.
What do I need to bring or prepare before my visit?
After you book, the lead traveler (the person who made the reservation) must submit a clear photo of a valid government-issued photo ID or driver's license so your official boarding pass can be issued. On the day of your visit, bring that same original ID in person to the Xcaret Box Office—a digital copy is not accepted. A valid passport is the only official ID the park accepts for entry.
Can I change my booking date if I need to reschedule?
Date changes cannot be made on the same day as your visit. If you need to reschedule, contact the operator before your scheduled date.
