The driver picks you up wherever you're staying in Tulum at the time you choose, loads your luggage and takes you directly to your destination in Playa del Carmen. The vehicle is air-conditioned and sized to your group: a sedan for one to three passengers, an MPV for four, or a van for five to seven, each with space for suitcases and cabin bags. Bottled water is included, and the driver speaks English and knows the area well enough to answer questions about what you're passing.
If you want to break up the drive, you can add sightseeing time in blocks of 2, 4 or 6 hours total, split however you like among the four stops your travel experts have flagged: Xel-Há park (a natural lagoon and snorkel site), Akumal (a beach town known for sea turtles), Aktun Chen (a cenote and cave system), or Xcaret park (a larger eco-park with multiple attractions). Entry fees to any of these are optional and paid separately. You decide which stops matter to you, how long to spend at each one, and whether to stop at all.
The transfer itself ranges from about an hour if you go straight through to as long as seven hours if you use all the sightseeing time. Breaks for lunch are possible, and the driver will drop you at your chosen hotel or location in Playa del Carmen whenever you're ready.
