The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup and a drive to the Tulum Ruins, where a certified guide walks you through the site for about 90 minutes. The ruins sit on a bluff above the Caribbean, and the guide explains the layout and history as you move through the structures. After Tulum, you head inland to Coba, a larger and less crowded archaeological site where you'll spend an hour exploring the pyramids and jungle paths.

Between Coba and the return journey, you stop at Kuxtal Cenote (or a substitute cenote if Kuxtal is unavailable that day) for a swim in the clear freshwater pool. A life vest is mandatory, and you get a full hour to float and cool off. The cenote ticket is included, and the guide will brief you on entry and safety before you go in. Bring a swimsuit and a towel. There's time to change and rinse off.

On the way back to Tulum, the tour includes a regional buffet lunch with a drink, plus a box lunch with juice, a sandwich, and fruit. Two more drinks come during the return transport. If you're staying in Tulum or south of Playa del Carmen, the final stop on 5th Avenue is skipped. Otherwise, you'll have free time to walk the pedestrian street, see the colorful Playa del Carmen sign, and browse shops before heading back to your hotel. The whole day runs 11 to 12 hours from pickup to drop-off.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Spanish.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 10 years); Infant (under 4): free.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

How much walking is involved at the Tulum and Coba ruins?

Tulum Ruins takes about 90 minutes with a guide leading you through the structures on the site. Coba Ruins takes an hour and involves walking jungle paths and around the pyramids. Both are outdoor archaeological sites with uneven ground, so wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

What is Kuxtal Cenote like, and can I skip the swim?

Kuxtal Cenote is a natural freshwater pool fed by underground springs, with clear water and limestone walls. You get a full hour to swim. A life vest is mandatory and included. If you prefer not to swim, you can stay on the platform or in the shallow areas. The cenote visit is part of the tour, but you choose how much time you spend in the water.

Is the cenote the same every time, or does it change?

The main cenote is Kuxtal, but the guide may substitute a different cenote on the day depending on water conditions or access. No refund is given if the cenote changes, and the operator does not list alternative cenotes in advance.

What's included in the meals, and are there dietary options?

Lunch is a regional buffet (45 minutes) with one drink included, plus a separate box lunch with juice, a sandwich, and fruit. Two additional drinks come during the return transport. The operator does not list specific buffet items or dietary accommodations, so ask about restrictions when you book.

If I'm staying south of Playa del Carmen, do I miss the 5th Avenue stop?

Yes. If your hotel is in Tulum or south of Playa del Carmen, the tour skips the final stop on 5th Avenue and returns you directly to your hotel. The rest of the itinerary (Tulum Ruins, Coba, and the cenote) stays the same.
