Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Tulum and jungle adventure
- Tour Tulum archaeological site
- Ride 4x4 Can-am ATV in jungle
- Snorkel in underground river
- Enjoy Mexican cuisine lunch
The experience
You start from your Cancun hotel in an air-conditioned minivan and head into the jungle. Once there, you mount a 450cc ATV and ride through uneven terrain. This is the part that demands moderate fitness and comfort with physical activity. The guide leads the way, and the riding itself is the main event: not a scenic drive but active operation of the machine through the landscape.
After the ATV section, you move to the cenote: an underground river with water clear enough to see the bottom. You snorkel here with the gear provided. Basic swimming ability is required, and prescription goggles can be arranged ahead of time. This is a genuine water stop, not a viewing platform. Then comes Tulum Ruins, the archaeological site perched above the Caribbean. A certified guide walks you through the site and explains what you're standing in front of.
Lunch is a buffet of real Mexican cuisine, included in the price. The whole day runs about 7 hours. You'll need to bring a bathing suit, water shoes, sunglasses, a hat, a towel, and biodegradable sunscreen. The operator provides the helmet and ATV, and the minivan handles transport between stops. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, though reservations made within 24 hours of the tour date need to provide hotel information or pickup is not guaranteed.

Is this one for you?Choose this if you want to be active rather than watch from a vehicle. You're riding the ATV yourself and snorkeling in the cenote, not just passing through. The single-rider ATV suits solo travelers or anyone who wants to operate their own machine. The double-rider works for families with kids aged 8 to 15, who ride as passengers while an adult drives.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can I ride an ATV if I've never done it before?
Yes, but you need at least moderate physical fitness and comfort handling a 450cc machine on uneven jungle terrain. The guide leads the group, and the operator requires riders to be at least 16 years old. If you're traveling with children aged 8 to 15, they ride as passengers on a double-rider ATV rather than operating their own.
What is the underground river like when you snorkel there?
The cenote is an underground river with crystal-clear water, so visibility is excellent for snorkeling. You'll need basic swimming skills and a bathing suit. The operator provides the snorkel gear and can arrange prescription goggles if you request them in advance.
What should I bring and what does the operator provide?
Bring comfortable clothes and footwear, water shoes, sunglasses, a hat, a bathing suit, an extra T-shirt, a towel, biodegradable sunscreen and mosquito repellent, and cash for any extras like photos or souvenirs. The operator provides the helmet, ATV, snorkel gear, lunch, transportation by minivan, and a professional guide in English or Spanish.
Is there a single-rider or double-rider ATV option?
You choose at checkout: a Single Rider ATV if you want to operate your own machine, or a Double Rider ATV if you're traveling with children aged 8 to 15 (who ride as passengers). Adults can also book the double-rider option if preferred.
