Pedal to the reef without the effort, snorkel without the boat.

An e-bike and snorkel combination in Cozumel pairs an effortless ride along the west coast with guided snorkeling at Sky Reef Beach Club's shallow reef. A local guide leads the bike portion, teaching island history and culture, then gears you up for the reef. The route includes a stop at a natural cenote to learn how these freshwater springs form.

Step-by-step itinerary

E-bike ride and snorkeling adventure

  • Meet at Palmar Condominiums
  • Receive e-bike and start ride
  • Visit a natural cenote
  • Snorkel at Sky Reef Beach Club

The experience

The electric bike does the work while you take in the coast. You'll ride a Pedego e-bike from the starting point near the Palmar Condominiums, pedaling past island sights as your guide shares stories about Cozumel's culture and history. The motor handles the hills, so the pace stays relaxed even in the heat. After roughly an hour on the road, you'll reach the natural cenote (a freshwater spring carved into the limestone), where the guide explains how these geological formations shape the island.

Sky Reef Beach Club sits on the closest-to-shore reef in Cozumel, and that proximity is the whole point. You'll wade in from the beach instead of boarding a boat, snorkel equipment already fitted, and the reef starts in shallow water. The guide stays with you in the water, pointing out what lives there. If weather or visibility shifts, the team will move to Bahia de Uvas instead, a backup site with the same shallow-water setup. The beach club has lockers, showers, and lounges. Food and drinks are available for purchase if you want to linger after the snorkel.

Check in 15 minutes before your start time (either 9:15 AM or 12:45 PM) at the meeting point in front of the Palmar Condominiums. The whole outing runs about three hours. You'll need to be at least 12 years old, at least 5 feet tall, and comfortable riding a regular bicycle. A moderate fitness level helps, since you're pedaling an e-bike, not sitting in one.

Is this one for you?Book the 9:15 AM departure if you want the morning light on the reef and the rest of your day free. The 12:45 PM start works better if you're sleeping in or coordinating with a ship schedule. Either way, the e-bike means you're not fighting the pedals in Cozumel's heat.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Spanish.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What's the cenote stop like on this ride?

The natural cenote is a freshwater spring formed by the island's limestone geology. Your guide explains how these formations work and why they matter to Cozumel's landscape and history. You stop there to learn, not to swim.

How shallow is the reef at Sky Reef Beach Club?

Sky Reef's reef is the closest-to-shore option in Cozumel, so you enter from the beach in shallow water rather than taking a boat to a deeper site. The guide snorkels with you and points out the marine life as you explore.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day I book?

If visibility or conditions at Sky Reef aren't ideal, the guide will move the snorkel to Bahia de Uvas, another shallow-water reef site with the same beach-entry setup and amenities.

Do I need to know how to ride a bike to do this?

You need to be comfortable riding a regular bicycle and have at least a moderate fitness level. The e-bike motor helps with hills, but you're still pedaling and steering for about an hour along the coast.

Can I eat at Sky Reef after snorkeling?

Food and drinks are available for purchase at Sky Reef Beach Club. The beach club also has lockers, showers, and lounges if you want to stay and relax after the snorkel ends.
