What’s the experience like?

We were already sweating a little when we hopped out of the cab—Cozumel’s air is thick even before noon, and I could smell salt and sunscreen everywhere. Our guide, Luis, handed out helmets and grinned like he’d done this a thousand times (he probably has). The bikes looked way fancier than mine at home, but honestly, I was just relieved they were electric. Luis gave us the basics—don’t overthink it, just glide—and then we were off, the tires humming quietly as we rolled past the edge of Punta Sur Eco Beach Park. I kept glancing left: nothing but wild sea and rocks for miles.

The road hugged the coast so close you could hear the waves smacking against stone in these weird syncopated bursts. There aren’t any big resorts or crowds on this side—just wind, pelicans, and those tiny beach shacks that look like they might blow away in a storm. We stopped once so Luis could show us some weird volcanic rock formation (I still don’t know what it was called—he said it in Spanish and I definitely butchered my attempt to repeat it). There was this moment where everyone went quiet except for the wind whipping around us. I didn’t expect to feel so far away from everything.

Lunch at San Martin Beach Club was simple but perfect—fresh tortillas, grilled fish that tasted like it had been swimming that morning, lime squeezed over everything. My hands were still a bit shaky from riding; maybe adrenaline or just hunger. After eating, some people swam but I just sat there watching the light shift on the water. It’s funny how quickly you can settle into a place when you’re tired and salty and full.
