The experience

You start in Sayulita and head toward Mal Paso Beach on coastal trails bordered by tropical jungle and Pacific views. The beach itself is a pause point: a place to catch your breath and sit with the ocean before moving inland. From there the trail turns toward San Pancho through thicker vegetation, where you'll spend time at the local farmers market exploring what grows here and what the town eats on an ordinary day. It's not a quick stop. The market is part of the route, not a photo break.

The final stretch takes you toward the Buddha, a stone figure sitting in a small sanctuary surrounded by forest. Most of the 12 km is relatively flat, though a few sections climb. The guide walks with you the whole way, speaks English or Spanish, and carries an emergency kit. Mosquito repellent is provided. Once you reach the Buddha and have time to sit there, a taxi brings you back to Sayulita rather than retracing your steps.
