The Experience

The tour starts at a tortilla factory in the market, where you get a brief introduction to Mexican and local produce before heading out to the eateries themselves. Your guide is a local food expert who knows which spots the residents actually eat at, not the ones built for visitors. Over the next three hours you'll walk roughly 2 miles through the neighborhoods, stopping at six to eight places to taste tacos, tostadas, salsas, gorditas, fresh fruit juices and desserts. The tastings are spaced across enough stops that together they add up to a real meal.

You'll learn about the local produce and goods as you move through the town, and the guide fills in the history and daily life of San Jose del Cabo along the way. The route ends at Mijares Square, the main plaza in the center of town. Bottles of water are provided throughout. If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, let the operator know at booking so they can adjust the stops and tastings to fit what you eat.

A maximum of 15 people keeps the group small enough to move easily and ask questions.
