Puerto Vallarta Tour with Butterfly Garden & Tequila Tasting
Watch butterflies emerge from chrysalis inside a working garden, then swim at a quiet beach the same afternoon.
A guided city tour of Puerto Vallarta that combines the Malecón seawall, a live jewelry workshop, the butterfly garden with restaurant and river access, and free beach time—4 to 6 hours depending on the departure time you choose. Morning tours include stops where you step out of the vehicle; evening tours keep the city review from inside the van. Pickup is included from hotels or cruise ships, and a complimentary tequila tasting comes with butterfly garden entry.
Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Puerto Vallarta and Butterfly House
- Visit Puerto Vallarta seawall by vehicle
- Stop at local jewelry store to watch making
- Pass Punta Negra beach for photos
- Enter butterfly house and observe lifecycle
- Enjoy artisanal liquor tasting
- Relax and swim at the beach
The Experience
What's the best way to see Puerto Vallarta without spending the whole day planning it? This tour moves through the city by van or bus—air-conditioned in the morning, without A/C in the evening—and hits the main landmarks without requiring you to navigate on your own. The Malecón seawall is the first stop, where the morning group gets out to walk and the evening group views it from the vehicle. You'll pass Punta Negra beach slowly enough to photograph it from the transport, then stop at a local jewelry workshop where artisans work live and you can watch how marine jewelry is made.
The butterfly garden is where the day shifts. You enter a working facility where you see the full cycle from egg to adult butterfly, then have access to a restaurant inside the garden with views of the river. A complimentary tasting of artisanal liquors is included. If you want to swim or wade, the river is there; if you'd rather sit, you can. After the garden, you get an hour of free time at the beach to walk, swim or simply rest—this stretch is yours to spend however you want.
The morning tour runs longer than the evening one because the stops where you step out take more time. Both include a trained guide who speaks English or Spanish, depending on which group you join. Infants can travel in a pram or stroller, and the van has specialized infant seats. The tour is not recommended for people in wheelchairs due to the stops and the garden layout. Cell phones are not allowed inside the butterfly laboratory itself.
What’s included
- Private transportation in a van or bus with air conditioning (morning only).

Is this one for you?Choose the morning departure if you want to step out and walk the Malecón and jewelry workshop; choose the evening tour if you prefer to stay in the vehicle and move faster through the city. Both include the butterfly garden and beach time, so the main difference is how much time you spend outside the transport and how much heat you're willing to sit in.

Can I bring my kids on this Puerto Vallarta tour?
Yes. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and specialized infant seats are available in the vehicle. The butterfly garden and beach time are family-friendly, and kids ride free according to the operator's policy.
What's the difference between the morning and evening tour?
The morning tour is in an air-conditioned van and includes stops where you step out to walk the Malecón and explore on foot. The evening tour is in a bus without A/C, and the city review happens from inside the vehicle. The morning tour takes longer overall because of the walking stops.
Is the butterfly garden included, or do I pay extra?
Butterfly garden entry is included in the tour price. You also get a complimentary tasting of artisanal liquors while you're there, and you have access to the restaurant and river inside the garden grounds.
Where does the tour pick me up?
Pickup is included from your hotel. If you're arriving on a cruise ship, the operator picks up at Puerto Magico at 12 pm and returns you to the ship. Call +523221415286 or message ahead if you're a cruise passenger.
What can I do during the free beach hour?
The beach time is yours to spend as you like. You can swim, walk along the shore, take photos or simply rest. The beach is quiet and not the main tourist strip, so it's a chance to slow down.
What's not included that I should know about?
Lunch is not included in the tour price. Snorkeling, paddleboarding to other beaches, and horseback riding are available as add-ons but cost extra and are not part of the standard tour.
