The experience
The boat leaves from Villa del Palmar Hotel and heads into Loreto Bay National Park, where the volcanic Sierra de la Giganta rises behind the water and the Sea of Cortez holds what locals call the Aquarium of the World. Your captain navigates to the productive grounds (hidden seamounts, rocky reefs, the channels where the current runs fast) using years of local knowledge to position the boat where the fish are feeding. You'll troll for high-speed pelagics like dorado and marlin, or work the reefs for yellowtail, grouper, wahoo and the hard-fighting roosterfish. The captain reads the season and the conditions and adjusts the day's tactics to what's running.
Rods, reels and tackle are rigged and ready. Bait is provided. A Baja-style burrito, sodas and bottled water come aboard so you're not managing hunger between strikes. The fishing license and the marine park fee are handled. You show up and fish. The captain speaks English or Spanish and steers the day around what you want to pursue and how you want to fish it. Flexible departure times mean you can book the early bite or the afternoon push, depending on what works with the rest of your Loreto days.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What species are actually biting when I visit Loreto?
The Sea of Cortez runs seasonal cycles, and your captain will target what's running that month: marlin and sailfish in their peaks, dorado and yellowtail year-round, roosterfish along the reefs, grouper and wahoo depending on the current. The captain's local knowledge is what puts the boat on the fish that are feeding right now, not on what was biting last month.
Do I need my own fishing license, or is it included?
The fishing license is included in the charter price and is already arranged before you board. You don't need to obtain one separately.
What's included in the lunch, and will there be time to eat?
Lunch is a Baja-style burrito, plus sodas and bottled water. You'll eat between fishing, not on a set schedule. The captain keeps the boat positioned while you refuel.
Can I choose what time the boat leaves?
Yes. Departure times are flexible on request, so you can book an early morning departure to catch the dawn bite or an afternoon slot if that fits your schedule better.
How many people can fish on this charter?
The boat accommodates one to four anglers per trip. You can book it as a solo angler, a pair, a group of three, or a full boat of four.
