The experience
Your driver/guide picks you up and takes you through Cozumel's city center before stopping at a small chocolate factory where you'll learn how cacao becomes chocolate the way the Mayas originally made it. From there, the tour moves to an open-air tequila distillery where you taste several varieties of blue agave tequila. Children get honey-based drinks from melipona bees, an endemic Yucatan species. The minivan is air-conditioned and fits the whole group, so there's no switching vehicles or waiting for a shuttle.
San Gervasio Mayan ruins come next: the island's most important archaeological site, built as a sacred temple to Ixchel, the goddess of fertility, and a trading hub for the ancient Maya. Your guide walks you through the structures and explains their history and purpose. After the ruins, you'll drive to El Mirador lookout on the east side of the island for photos, then head to Playa Palancar on the west coast. This beach sits away from the cruise ship crowds and has a bar, snacks, loungers, and a dive shop where you can arrange snorkeling from shore or by boat if you want to get in the water.
Departures leave every half hour starting at 8am, so you can book a time that works with your ship's docking and re-boarding schedule. Just provide your ship name, docking time, and re-boarding time when you book. The tour works for all fitness levels and accommodates wheelchairs, strollers, and service animals.

Your guide explains the structures and their cultural meaning as you walk through the ruins.
Can I arrange snorkeling at Playa Palancar?
