Step-by-step itinerary

Cozumel ATV tour and activities

  • Meet at Royal Village Shopping Center
  • ATV ride through El Cedral village
  • Explore El Cedral ruins with guide
  • Swim in Cenote Jade
  • Tequila tasting session

The Experience

You start at Royal Village Shopping Center in Cozumel, where the group gathers before heading out. The ATV ride takes you straight into the jungle on rugged trails around El Cedral, a historic Mayan village where you stop to explore the ruins themselves—your guide walks you through the site and explains what you're standing in front of. Bottled water is on hand the whole way, and the fuel for your ATV is already covered.

After the ruins, you ride to Cenote Jade, a freshwater pool carved into the jungle floor and ringed with trees and ancient rock. You get in and swim—this is where the day shifts from adrenaline to something quieter, though the cenote itself is the draw. Once you're out and dry, the tequila tasting begins. Your guide walks you through a selection of premium tequilas, talking through how they're made and what sets them apart. This part is only for travelers 18 and up.

You can ride solo on your own ATV or share one with another rider (two people per vehicle). If your group has an odd number and you booked a shared ATV, the last person automatically gets a single machine instead—no extra charge, just how it works out. The whole experience runs about two and a half hours, and the operator says it's suitable for all fitness levels.

Is this one for you?Book a single ATV if you want to ride at your own pace without coordinating with another rider; choose the shared option if you're traveling with a partner and want to split the cost. Either way, the fixed itinerary—ruins, cenote, tasting—means the day is already planned, so you show up and the sequence holds together without building it yourself.

Top questions

Can I ride my own ATV on this tour, or do I have to share?

You choose at checkout: a single ATV just for you, or a shared ATV with one other rider. Shared ATVs work best for groups with an even number of people; if your group is odd, the last rider gets a single machine automatically.

What exactly is El Cedral, and what will I see there?

El Cedral is an ancient Mayan village with ruins you explore on foot after the ATV ride. Your guide shows you around the site and explains its history and cultural significance while you're there.

Is Cenote Jade safe to swim in?

Cenote Jade is a natural freshwater pool surrounded by jungle and rock formations. Swimming is allowed and included; it's a common stop on Cozumel tours and part of the day's itinerary.

Who can do the tequila tasting?

The tequila tasting is only for travelers 18 years old and older. If anyone in your group is under 18, they'll skip that part of the day.

What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?

The tour includes the ATV ride, fuel, bottled water throughout the day, entry to El Cedral ruins, the cenote swim, and the tequila tasting. Bring sunscreen, a swimsuit, and a change of clothes; wear closed-toe shoes for riding.

Do I need experience to ride an ATV on this tour?

No—the tour is suitable for all fitness levels, and the operator doesn't require prior ATV experience. Your guide will brief you on the basics before you head out.
