The Experience

The ticket line moved slower than expected—someone ahead of us was asking about accessibility, which turned out to be the right question to ask. Mystika Inmersivo sits inside the House of Tiles in Mexico City, and what you're walking into isn't a traditional gallery. It's seven rooms designed by contemporary artist Pepe Soho, each one built around 45 large-format photographs of Mexico's most striking natural places. The whole thing is meant to feel like a spiritual journey, not a museum visit where you stand back and observe.

Once you're inside, the experience moves through image, video, and music layered together. You're not just looking at photographs of remote sanctuaries and landscapes—you're moving through rooms where the light, sound, and scale of the images are supposed to pull something from you. One section focuses on horses and their healing presence; another on your own connection to nature. It's designed to be introspective, which means you might find yourself standing still in a room longer than you planned. The artist is essentially inviting you to see what he sees when he's in these places, and to use that as a mirror for your own thoughts.

The experience works best if you move through it without rushing. There's no set pace—you spend as long as you need in each room, and you can take photographs with family or friends as you go. Two of the rooms have mirrored floors, which is why standard wheelchairs can't access them; the venue provides a plastic chair without wheels so people can still enter those spaces. Public transportation stops near the House of Tiles location, and the building itself is wheelchair accessible otherwise. General admission covers everything—entry fees and taxes are included in your ticket price.
