The experience
The paddle starts early so you reach the lagoon as the sun breaks. You'll operate your own kayak through the canals, surrounded by the nature and the water, with your guide sharing stories about local culture and the flora and fauna around you. No previous kayaking experience is required. The guide gives a brief instruction before you set out, and all the equipment (kayak, paddle, life jacket) is provided. A raincoat is included if it rains.
After the kayak portion, you head to a chinampa, one of the ancient floating gardens that give Xochimilco its name. There you'll sit by a bonfire and have a cup of hot traditional coffee and a breakfast made with ingredients harvested right there on the garden. The meal is prepared fresh, and vegan options are available. Depending on which option you choose at checkout, round-trip transportation from your hotel is included, or you can book the kayak and breakfast separately, or the kayak route alone.
The whole experience is designed for all fitness levels. The minimum age is 12. Public transportation options are available nearby if you prefer to make your own way to the starting point.
