Step-by-step itinerary
Hot air balloon and Teotihuacan tour
- Balloon flight over Teotihuacan
- Celebrate flight with sparkling wine
- Enjoy traditional Mexican breakfast
- Taste ancestral drinks and visit workshop
- Tour pyramids with virtual guide
The experience
The balloon lifts off in the first light of dawn. For 45 minutes to an hour, you float above Teotihuacan while the sun turns the pyramids gold: the vantage point most visitors never reach. You'll photograph the City of Gods from the air, then descend to a sparkling wine toast and a certificate marking the flight. Transport from your hotel gets you to the launch site and back afterward.
Breakfast comes next, and you choose: a three-dish meal inside La Gruta, a natural cave carved into the mountainside, or a traditional Mexican buffet with more than 15 dishes at a local restaurant. The bilingual host moves at your pace: linger over coffee if you want, or move on. After breakfast, you taste ancestral drinks (tequila, pulque, mezcal and others) at a sensory tasting, then walk through a silver and obsidian workshop where artisans demonstrate techniques that have survived from pre-Hispanic times.
The pyramids themselves come last. You explore Teotihuacan with a virtual audio guide in English or Spanish, hearing the history of the site as you move through the ruins. The guide covers the architecture and the civilization that built it more than 2,500 years ago: the people who vanished before the Aztecs rose a thousand years later. The whole experience runs 6 to 8 hours from pickup to return.
