The experience adapts to nightly conditions for the best visibility, includes roundtrip shuttle service from a quiet area away from light pollution, and runs about 90 minutes with time to photograph the night sky and relax in a natural setting.

The experience

The tour starts with a transfer to a quiet section of the island where light pollution won't interfere with what you're about to see. Your guide meets you there and walks through what bioluminescence actually is, the science behind the glow, before you head into the water. Once you wade or swim in the shallow bay, every kick and hand movement causes the sea to light up in electric blue, a reaction triggered by dinoflagellates in the water that respond to motion.

You'll have time to move around the water at your own pace, take photographs of the glowing effect and the night sky above, and simply sit with the strangeness of it. The guides stay with you throughout, offering safety tips and pointing out what you're seeing. Because conditions change each night (cloud cover, water clarity, the intensity of the glow), the tour adjusts its timing and location to chase the best possible visibility, which is why small groups matter here: the operator can pivot the plan rather than stick to a fixed schedule that might land you on a poor night.

Roundtrip shuttle service is included, and the whole outing runs roughly 90 minutes. Children from age one are welcome, and all surfaces are wheelchair accessible. Guides speak English and Spanish.
