The experience

You start with pickup from your hotel in Querétaro at 8 a.m., then drive to the canyon base, arriving by 10:15 a.m. After a briefing and gearing up with specialized equipment, the canyon work begins at 11 a.m. You'll slide down natural slopes, do pit jumps and abseil down waterfalls for three hours straight, moving through the canyon with your guide. The physical work is steady but the operator welcomes all fitness levels, and children from 10 upward can join.

When you exit the canyon at 2 p.m., you change clothes and settle in for lunch with a view of the lake, celebrating the morning's work. The guide handles all the technical setup and safety calls. Your job is to move through the canyon and trust the system. By 5:20 p.m. you're back in Querétaro at your agreed drop-off point.

The nine-hour day includes the drive, the canyon time, the meal and the return. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included if you book the Querétaro option. The San Miguel de Allende option departs from there instead. Lunch, snacks, all specialized gear and insurance are built in. The operator asks for a medical form and a liability waiver before you start, and notes that the activity is not suitable for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or serious cardiovascular concerns.

Is this one for you?Book from Querétaro if your hotel is in the city and you want pickup at your door. Choose the San Miguel de Allende option if you're staying there instead. The three-hour canyon work itself is steady and continuous, so pick this one if you're ready for three hours of active movement, not a leisurely walk with stops.
