Summary

Cycle Bucerias for coffee tacos ceviche and mountain views

You’ll cycle through Bucerias with a local guide, stopping for fresh-roasted coffee, artisan juice, carnitas tacos, fish tacos and cold cerveza along the way. Expect easy riding, real conversation and plenty of chances to taste what locals actually eat here — plus mountain views you might not expect so close to town.

experience

What’s the experience like?

I didn’t expect to laugh so much before noon — or to eat that many tacos. The Bucerias bike & food tour started at this little shop tucked near the Royal Decameron, where Susy (our VeloGuide) handed me a cruiser bike and made sure my helmet wasn’t crooked. She asked if I wanted an espresso or something iced — I went for the latte. The smell of beans roasting was everywhere, kind of sweet and sharp at the same time. We sat outside for a minute, just waking up with our drinks and a pastry while Susy told us about her favorite taco stand in town (she wouldn’t say which yet — “it’s a surprise”).

The ride itself was easygoing — 10 km sounds like more than it is when you’re rolling slow through Bucerias’ backstreets and then out into the countryside. It was warm but not too hot, with the Sierra Madre mountains looking hazy in the distance. At one point we stopped at this tiny juice place where they handed us agua fresca in plastic cups, ice clinking around. I tried to say “agua de jamaica” properly; Li laughed when I butchered it. No one cared though. There were dogs barking somewhere down the street, and someone selling tamales from a cart — the kind of details you forget until you’re there.

After that came the carnitas tacos (messy in all the right ways), then fish tacos and ceviche at another spot closer to the beach. My hands still smelled like lime even after we finished eating. We ended with super cold beer — honestly felt earned after all that pedaling and snacking. Susy knew everyone at every stop; she waved or shouted something quick in Spanish each time we locked up our bikes. Sometimes tours feel rushed or stiff but this one just… wasn’t? I still think about that first bite of ceviche under the midday sun.
