The experience
The route starts at the Square of the Three Cultures in Mexico City, where pre-Hispanic and colonial architecture sit side by side. From there you head to Teotihuacan, the archaeological zone where you walk the Avenue of the Dead and climb or walk around the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, see the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Citadel, and stop at an arts and crafts center. The same day you return to Mexico City to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the shrine of Mexico's patron saint.
Day two is a panoramic tour through Cuernavaca, known as the city of eternal spring, where you see one of the oldest cathedrals in the Americas, the Palace of Cortés, and the city's colonial mansions and avenues. From there the route climbs into the Sierra Madre to Taxco, a town built on silver mining and known as the World Silver Capital. You visit the Baroque parish church of Santa Prisca and move through streets lined with silver shops and colonial buildings. The return to Mexico City may shift depending on traffic and group size.
A professional bilingual guide leads both days, speaking English and Spanish depending on the group's mix. Roundtrip transportation picks up from hotels in Zona Rosa, Polanco, Reforma and Centro. Children from age 3 are welcome. You can add lunch to either option at checkout, or book without it.
