The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel or location, then heads inland to Trou aux Cerfs, a dormant volcano in the center of the island now a viewpoint overlooking dense forest and the Mare aux Vacoas reservoir. From there the route moves through Floreal's factory shops (or skips them on request) and a scenic forest road before reaching Grand Bassin, home to one of Mauritius's most important Hindu temples and the towering statues of Shiva and Durga. The afternoon swings toward the coast. Alexandra Falls is a large garden thick with native plants and offers one of the south's most expansive views.
