The experience
The boat leaves early so you reach the Fonds Blancs (the famous white seabed shallows between Robert and François islands) in a quiet, privileged moment before the other tours arrive. Captain Taylor's group stays small, which means you get time to absorb the bay's history and ecosystem instead of rushing through stops. The boat makes several swimming and snorkeling pauses in the turquoise water at Trapèze, where the white sand floor is visible beneath you.
Chancel Island is a dedicated stop: you'll see iguanas in their natural habitat and learn the island's history before heading back to the water. The Bathtub of Joséphine and Madame Islet round out the route, each one a named landmark you actually visit rather than pass. A cocktail and snack are served on the water in the middle of the seabed, turning the meal into part of the landscape itself.
The whole experience runs about four hours. Infants can come along on an adult's lap, and the tour suits all fitness levels: swimming is optional, and you can snorkel or simply float in the shallows depending on what you want. Public transportation options are nearby if you need to reach the departure point.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Fonds Blancs and why is it worth the early start?
The Fonds Blancs are shallow white sand flats between Robert and François islands where the water is so clear and pale it looks unreal. The early departure gets you there before mid-morning when other boats arrive, so you have the space and quiet to actually see the ecosystem and take time in the water instead of being part of a crowd.
Do I have to snorkel, or can I just swim?
Snorkeling happens at Trapèze, but it's not mandatory. You can swim in the turquoise water and explore the seabed at your own pace, or stay on the boat if you prefer. The tour is built for all fitness levels.

Chancel Island is a stop where you'll see iguanas living in their natural habitat and learn the island's history from Captain Taylor before returning to the water for more swimming and snorkeling.
