The experience
You meet the guide and group at the Boathouse Restaurant next to the boat dock in Xlendi Bay, where you'll get a safety briefing and paddling introduction before putting on your life jacket and boarding a colorful kayak. The certified guide leads you out onto the Mediterranean, paddling alongside the rugged cliffs and natural formations that frame the bay. The water here is so clear you can see down to the seabed from the kayak itself.
Halfway through the 3-hour outing, you stop at a swimming spot in turquoise water where snorkeling reveals the marine life most frequently seen there: small colorful fish, corals, starfish and sea turtles. If conditions allow and you're lucky, dolphins pass through these waters too. You can spend as long as you want in the water during this break, with your snorkel mask and the guide nearby.
After the swimming stop, you paddle back along the Xlendi shore, taking in the scenic views at a slower pace. If you book the afternoon option, you'll watch the sunset as you make your way back to shore. Bring a hat, sunglasses, water shoes or sandals that can get wet, swimwear and a towel. Apply sunscreen before you arrive so it doesn't make the paddle grips slippery.
