The Experience

The day opens with a boat ride from Malta to Comino, where you'll stop at Santa Maria Caves and spend an hour swimming or snorkeling in the Blue Lagoon's turquoise water. The boat then heads to Mgarr Harbour on Gozo, where your driver-guide meets you and hands over the buggy keys. From there you drive yourself through the island's interior and along its southern coast—past the limestone cliffs of Sanap, the countryside shrine of Ta' Pinu, the fishing village of Xlendi with its bay and waterfront cafes, and the dramatic Dwejra landscape where the famous Azure Window once stood (a separate boat ride through the Inland Sea is optional for €5).

The buggy lets you set your own pace through each stop instead of watching from a bus window. Your guide navigates the route and handles the logistics; you control the vehicle and choose how long to linger at each point. The drive covers scenic but manageable roads—not technical terrain—so no off-road experience is required.

As the sun approaches the horizon, the tour ends at Xwejni Salt Pans, where dinner waits: freshly baked pizza, local Ftira wine, water and the view of the sun sinking over the Mediterranean. After eating, the boat returns you to Malta and transport takes you back to your starting point. The whole experience runs six to eight hours from pickup to drop-off.
