The experience

You step out of the elevator and the city drops away. The Skybridge connects the two towers at the 41st and 42nd floors, and it's narrow enough that you feel the height. The glass floor lets you look straight down at the traffic moving like toys on Jalan Ampang below. On a clear day you see all the way to the Klang Valley. On humid days, which is most days, the haze softens the edges and makes the whole view feel dreamlike. The bridge sways slightly when the wind picks up, which is exactly as unsettling as it sounds, and exactly why people come back to it.

After the Skybridge, you move up to the Observation Deck on the 86th floor. This is where the real panorama opens up: the Petronas Twin Towers themselves frame the view on two sides, and you're standing inside the thing that defines the Kuala Lumpur skyline. The Menara KL tower rises to the northeast, the older colonial district sits low and pale to the south, and the sprawl of the city fans out in every direction.
