The experience

You meet your small group at Cenang Beach for a safety briefing and jet ski instruction, then follow your guide in a convoy across calm waters. The ride covers eight islands at a slow pace, so you stay in formation and have time to absorb the landscape. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one of two other languages and narrates the geology and wildlife as you go: the mushroom-shaped rock formations, the mangroves, the eagles that soar overhead at the Fjords, a cluster of jungle-clad islands about a nautical mile offshore where you'll see 360-degree views of limestone and vegetation unique to Langkawi.

Dayang Bunting Island is the centerpiece: you'll ride to a lookout point to see the silhouette of the pregnant maiden that gave the island its name, formed by the outline of forested hills and rocky outcrops above Malaysia's largest freshwater lake. The Fjords come next. You'll skim between rocky islets and secret coves in crystal-clear water, surrounded by jungle terrain. Before heading back, you stop at an uncharted island for a swim and snorkel (depending on water conditions), so you get in the water and see what lies beneath.

You can book a single rider jet ski or ride double with a partner. Morning and afternoon departures both run. If you choose the combo option, you'll add a parasailing boat ride at Cenang Beach afterward and get a hotel return included. Life jacket, water boots, dry bag and all safety gear are provided.
