The experience

How do you pack four different landscapes into one day? This activity stacks them in sequence: you start with ziplining, where staff run you through safety training before you clip in and fly over green forest and rivers. Then you move to Tham Chang cave, where you sit on a tire and use fixed ropes to pull yourself through an underwater passage. The cave itself is the route. After that comes kayaking on the Nam Song River, a wide, flat stretch with trees lining both banks and the water calm enough to notice the fish and birds. The day ends with your choice of sunrise or sunset in a hot air balloon, rising slowly over the same rice paddies and river you've been moving through all morning or afternoon.

Hotel pickup happens at 9:00 AM from anywhere in Vang Vieng city, and you're back by late afternoon. Lunch is included, and you get roughly 40 to 60 minutes at the Blue Lagoon afterward if you want to swim in the natural pools and cool off. The hot air balloon flight lasts about 30 minutes and comes with a certificate. If heavy rain hits between mid-June and mid-September, the kayaking switches to a long-tail boat instead, so the river activity still happens. An experienced balloon pilot is with you for that flight, and an English-speaking guide is with the group throughout.

Weight limit for ziplining is under 100 kg. The activity is not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or cardiovascular concerns, but it suits all fitness levels otherwise. Children from age 6 are welcome. Infants sit on an adult's lap during transport.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 16 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.

What exactly happens when I zipline in Vang Vieng?

At the zipline site, staff give you instruction and safety training, then you clip in and fly over green forests and rivers. The weight limit is under 100 kg.

Is the cave tubing actually underwater, or is it just wet?

Tham Chang is an underwater cave: you sit on a tire and use fixed ropes to pull yourself through the passage, so you're moving through water the whole way.

What is the Nam Song River like for kayaking?

The Nam Song River is wide and flat with green trees on both sides, calm enough to see fish jumping and hear birds. The kayaking shows local culture and the region's natural scenery.

Can I choose what time of day I do the hot air balloon ride?

Yes, you pick either sunrise or sunset for your balloon flight. If you choose sunrise, you do the balloon first, rest at your hotel, then start the other activities at 9:00 AM. If you choose sunset, you do the other activities first and balloon at the end.

What happens if it rains during the kayaking season?

From mid-June to mid-September, if there is heavy rain, the kayaking switches to a long-tail boat ride on the Nam Song River instead, so the river activity still takes place.

Is there time to swim at the Blue Lagoon, or is it just a quick stop?

You get roughly 40 to 60 minutes at the Blue Lagoon 2 at the end of the day, so you can swim in the natural pools and cool off before heading back to your hotel.
