The Experience
The day starts with a 30-minute ride north to Khmu Village, where you paddle a kayak for two hours downstream on the Nam Song River. The guide gives you paddle instructions before you launch, then you drift past karst cliffs and limestone formations while the river carries you through seven kilometres of scenery. After the paddle, you float the same stretch on a tube across three stations, drifting without effort and watching the landscape unfold around you.
By early afternoon you're pulled back to shore for lunch—fried rice, BBQ, bread, fruit and water served on banana leaves beside Tham Nam, the water cave. Then comes the cave tubing: you wade into the clear spring water at the cave mouth, put on a helmet and light, and pull yourself on ropes up to 500 metres inside the cave. The guide walks you through it first, so the ropes and the darkness are manageable. When you emerge, you walk through a small Lao farm and rice fields to reach the zipline base.
The zipline section includes short and long lines strung between platforms and suspension bridges. Walking the sling bridge gives you views across the valley. On the final line you can do the Superman—a head-first dive position as you fly out over the water cave below. By 5 p.m. you're back at your hotel. All gear (life jackets, kayaking and tubing equipment, helmet, light) is provided, and the guide stays with the group the whole time.

Top questions
What's the kayaking part of the day like on the Nam Song River?
You paddle downstream for two hours starting from Khmu Village, about 10 kilometres north of Vang Vieng. The guide gives you paddle instructions before you launch, then you drift past karst cliffs and limestone scenery. After paddling, you float the same route on a tube across three stations, letting the river carry you without effort.
Can I actually go inside the water cave, or is it just swimming outside it?
You go inside Tham Nam cave on a tube, pulling yourself along ropes for up to 500 metres into the cave. The guide gives you a helmet, light and a brief introduction before you enter, so you know what to expect. The water is clear and cool, and the ropes are set up so there's no danger.
How does the zipline work and what's the Superman thing?
The zipline base is at the end of the day after you walk through a Lao farm and rice fields. You get training there, then walk a sling bridge for views, and zip across short and long lines between platforms. On the final zipline you can do the Superman—a head-first dive position as you fly out over the water cave.
Is lunch included, and when do we eat?
Lunch is included and served around midday beside the water cave after the kayaking and tubing on the river. You get fried rice, BBQ, bread, fruit and water served on banana leaves.
What gear do I need to bring, and what's provided?
All activity gear is provided: life jackets, kayaking equipment, tubing gear, helmet and light for the cave. You just need to bring clothes you don't mind getting wet, a change of clothes for after, and sunscreen.
