The experience

Ala-Archa National Park sits in the Chui region mountains, a 30-kilometer drive south from Bishkek. The gorge opens onto river valleys, hiking trails through juniper and birch forest, and views of glaciers carved into the ridge. The park holds more than 150 mountain routes ranging from short walks around the lower hut at Ractek to longer treks toward Adygene Lake and the high peaks. You choose how far to go: easy trails loop through the forest near the entrance, while steeper routes climb toward the glaciers and alpine meadows. An English-speaking guide leads the day and handles the route based on your fitness and interests.

Transport picks you up from your Bishkek hotel and drives you into the park, where the guide shows you the river, forest sections, and photo spots along the way. Lunch is included during the day. The altitude climbs steadily as you move deeper into the gorge, so the air thins and the landscape shifts from dense forest to open rock and ice.
