The experience
You start by picking your yukata and obi combination from what's available, then the instructor shows you how the garment actually works: the way it wraps, where the sash sits, how to keep it from slipping. Once you've watched, you put it on yourself while the instructor corrects your technique. This is where most people discover it's simpler than it looks once someone breaks down the steps.
After you're dressed, you photograph yourself in the yukata. If you bring your own camera or phone, the instructor can take the shots for you. Then you return the garment, have tea, and the workshop ends. The whole session takes about an hour. The class is women's yukata only and runs as a private session, so it's just you and the instructor.
The rental yukata, obi and waist straps are included. You'll need to wear or bring your own camisole, leggings and sandals underneath. If you want to keep exploring Osaka in the yukata after the workshop, the operator offers a two-day rental for 3,000 JPY or a purchase option (yukata, obi and two waist straps for 10,000 JPY, with three days' notice required).

Is this one for you?The instructor teaches in English, so you follow every step of the technique without translation delays. This works well if you want to understand the how and why behind wearing a yukata, rather than just posing in one for photos.
