The Experience
The first thing I noticed when we met our photographer near Shinjuku Gyoen was how relaxed the whole vibe felt—no awkward posing, just us wandering under the cherry trees while she snapped away. The air was cool that morning, and you could hear the crows overhead (they’re loud in Tokyo, by the way). We didn’t have to worry about asking strangers for photos or dealing with blurry selfies; our guide handled everything and even suggested some tucked-away spots in the park where the light hit just right.
Later, we strolled through Omoide Yokocho. That alley’s always buzzing—grilled yakitori smells drifted out from tiny bars, and you can catch snippets of old jazz playing from somewhere above. Our photographer caught us laughing by a lantern-lit doorway. She knew exactly when to snap those little moments you’d usually miss. At Senso-ji Temple, she timed it so we avoided most of the crowds (she said early mornings are best), and we got shots with incense smoke swirling around us. Honestly, I barely noticed her clicking away after a while—it felt more like hanging out with a local friend who just happens to take great pictures.
