The experience

You arrive at the studio and pick your armor from seven different styles: each one a real samurai design with its own weight and presence. A professional dresser helps you into the pieces, making sure everything fits and sits right. The studio photographs you in roughly 15 poses, capturing around 150 shots total so you have plenty of angles and expressions to choose from.

The walking option is where the day shifts. If you take it, you leave the studio in full armor and head to Shibuya Crossing: one of Tokyo's busiest intersections. You'll draw attention. That's the point. The photos from this part of the session are included in the same SD card you take home. The whole experience, studio and optional walk combined, takes about 90 minutes.

T-shirts, underpants for the kimono, and tabi socks are provided so you're dressed properly under the armor. A guide speaks English throughout. Public transportation stops are nearby if you need them to get to the studio.

What happens if I'm too tall or too short for the armor?

The armor fits adults between 5 feet and 6.5 feet tall, and children between 3 feet and 4.5 feet. If you're outside those ranges, the studio cannot accommodate the fit.

Do I get the photos from the shoot?

Yes. All 150+ shots are provided on an SD card you take with you, including photos from the studio and from the Shibuya Crossing walk if you choose that option.

Can I walk around Tokyo in the armor, or does it stay in the studio?

Walking in the armor is optional. If you want it, you can go to Shibuya Crossing in full samurai gear and get photos there. If you prefer to stay in the studio, that's fine too: the session works either way.
