The experience
Three to four hours on the water means you cover real distance without rushing. You'll paddle over clear water past limestone-lined bays, staying either inside or outside the reef line depending on the day's conditions and what your guide thinks will suit you. The route avoids the normal tourist paths, so you're exploring the quieter part of the island with someone who knows where the fish are and where the current runs.
When the group is ready, you'll stop at a snorkel spot. The guide picks from several depending on your comfort level and what you want to see. After you're done in the water, there's a drink and a local snack on the beach. The return trip is flexible too: conditions often mean you'll finish at a different point than where you started, and your guide arranges onward transport back to your vehicle or drop-off beforehand so there's no scrambling at the end.
Everything you need is provided: premium fibreglass kayaks with jackets, full snorkelling gear, a 3mm wetsuit for cooler months, and safety equipment. The guide speaks English and stays with your group the whole time, reading the water and adjusting the day to what works for you.

What's the water like for snorkeling in Okinawa's Yanbaru area?
The reef and bay waters are clear enough to see the fish and coral your guide takes you to. Snorkel stops are chosen based on conditions and your group's ability, so you're not fighting current or visibility.
Do I need my own kayak experience to book this?
No. The guide tailors the paddle to your fitness level and preferences, and can adjust the route to stay inside the reef or take a longer journey outside depending on what works for you. You need at least moderate physical fitness and should be comfortable in the water.
How does pickup work if I don't have a car?
Pickup from your accommodation is included in the booking. Your guide arranges return transport to your vehicle or drop-off point before you start, so you don't need to plan the logistics.
What happens if the weather or tide changes the plan?
The guide reads conditions on the day and adjusts both the kayak route and the snorkel stops. You might finish at a different beach than where you started, but that's arranged beforehand so it's not a surprise.
Is there a minimum age for snorkeling?
Children are welcome from age 13. Participants 60 and over need a doctor's medical certificate to snorkel. Those under 60 need one only if you have a pre-existing condition.
