Powder snow instruction tailored to your level, not a one-size group class

Ski and snowboard lessons at Sapporo Teine Ski Resort with tailored instruction for beginners through advanced skiers. The school picks you up from your Sapporo hotel, includes lift tickets and rentals in some options, and records video so you can review what you learned. Instructors speak English, Chinese or Japanese. Choose between a 1-day, 2-day or 3-day course depending on how much time you have.

The experience

The lesson starts with a hotel pickup at 8:20am and a drive to Sapporo Teine, about an hour from central Sapporo. Once there, you handle rental registration and lift ticket purchase, then meet your instructor for the morning session starting at 10am. The afternoon lesson runs from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, with a lunch break in between. You return rentals and head back to your hotel by 5pm. The whole day, from pickup through dismissal, takes about nine hours, but the actual instruction time is split across the morning and afternoon so you're not on skis for eight straight hours.

3F Ski & Snowboard School tailors each lesson to where you're starting from, whether that's your first time on skis or you're working on technique as an intermediate rider. The instructors give precise feedback and adjust the pace to your personality and comfort level, not to a preset curriculum. Photography and video recording are included, so you leave with footage of what you learned: useful for reviewing technique or just having proof you actually did it. The school offers 1-day, 2-day and 3-day options. Longer courses let you build skills across multiple sessions rather than cramming everything into one morning and afternoon.

Sapporo Teine sits close enough to the city that hotel pickup makes sense. You don't need to arrange separate transport or figure out bus schedules. The resort has reliable snow conditions through the season and caters to both skiers and snowboarders at every level. Bring a moderate level of fitness (this is a full day on the mountain with instruction, not a casual outing), and plan to book well ahead during peak season.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Chinese, Chinese and Japanese.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What's included in the lesson cost and what do I pay extra for?

Round-trip hotel pickup and the instruction itself are included. Lift passes, rental equipment and food are separate. You'll buy the lift ticket at the resort and arrange rentals there as well. Some course options bundle rentals differently, so check which plan you're booking.

Can I book a lesson if I've never skied or snowboarded before?

Yes, the school explicitly caters to beginners and tailors instruction to your starting point. The morning and afternoon sessions give you time to build confidence without overwhelming you in one long block.

How long is the actual instruction time versus travel and breaks?

The full day runs from 8:20am pickup to 5pm hotel drop-off. Instruction happens in two blocks: 10am to noon and 1:30pm to 3:30pm, with a lunch break in between. Travel to and from the resort takes about an hour each way.

Do I need to be a certain age or fitness level to book?

The minimum age is 12. You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The school does not recommend lessons for travelers with spinal injuries, cardiovascular conditions or pregnancy.
