The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Ocho Rios or Runaway Bay hotel and heads south through St. Ann parish, the Garden Parish. You'll pass Green Grotto Caves, a large cave system set 100 feet below ground, and continue past Discovery Bay where Jamaica's bauxite mining operations are visible, then through Columbus Park. The route crosses into Trelawny and passes through Montego Bay, where you'll see the Greenwood Great House and Rose Hall Great House before heading west on the Queen's Highway toward Negril.
In Negril, you spend 3 to 4 hours on Seven Mile Beach, where the water is clean and aquamarine, coral reefs are visible, and palm trees line the shore. The beach itself draws an international crowd and offers a laid-back atmosphere that sets it apart from other Jamaican beaches. When you're ready to leave the sand, the day ends at Rick's Cafe on the West End Cliffs, the first public bar and restaurant of its kind in Negril. From the naturally formed cliffs, you can jump into the water below, listen to reggae music, order drinks, and watch the sunset over the water before the return journey to your hotel.
