The experience
Green Grotto Caves opens the day: you walk through a guided route into passages carved by limestone, past stalactites and stalagmites, and discover an underground lake lit by atmospheric lighting. The caves hold layers of history (used by the Arawak people, later by Spanish conquistadors and runaway slaves), and the guide walks you through the chambers and hidden features as you move through. The passages are navigable but require some climbing and ducking. The cave stays cool and damp year-round.
From there you transition to Blue Hole, a natural pool in the jungle near Ocho Rios where the water runs turquoise and clear. This is where the activity shifts: you can swim in the pool, jump from the cliff edge into the water below, or swing on a rope out over the pool and drop in. The site sits surrounded by tropical foliage and rock formations, and your guide points out hidden caves and small waterfalls tucked into the jungle around the pool. The water is deep enough for jumping and rope swinging, and you'll have time to explore and cool off between activities.
Private transportation picks you up from your hotel in either Falmouth or Montego Bay and brings you back after the activity ends. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and all entry fees and taxes are included in the price. Bring a swimsuit, towel and water shoes or sandals that can get wet. The cave floor is uneven and the pool area has rocks. Lunch is not part of the package, so eat before you go or plan to grab food after.

Is this one for you?Book from Falmouth if you're staying on the north coast near there, or from Montego Bay if that's your base. The pickup point determines your travel time. Moderate fitness is necessary because of the cave passages and the pool activities, so this suits travelers comfortable with climbing, uneven ground and optional cliff jumping rather than those looking for a relaxed sightseeing day.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 12 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's inside Green Grotto Caves that makes it worth the visit?
Green Grotto Caves is an underground system of passages and chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites, plus an underground lake illuminated by lighting. The guide explains the cave's history (from use by the Arawak people to its role as a hideout during Spanish colonial times and later periods) as you walk through the different sections and hidden chambers.
Can I actually jump off the cliff at Blue Hole, or is that just for experienced swimmers?
Cliff jumping at Blue Hole is optional and part of the activity. The pool is deep and the guides are experienced with it. You can also rope swing into the water or simply swim. Your guide will assess the conditions and your comfort level before you jump, and swimming alone is a perfectly valid choice if you prefer that instead.
How long does the whole thing take, and what time does pickup happen?
The activity runs 3 to 4 hours total, covering both caves and the pool. Pickup time depends on which hotel you're staying at (Falmouth or Montego Bay), and will be confirmed when you book. The operator will arrange the specific pickup window based on your location.
What should I bring, and is there anywhere to change or shower after?
Bring a swimsuit, towel, water shoes or sandals that can handle wet conditions, and sunscreen. The cave floor is uneven and the pool area has rocks, so footwear matters. Shower facilities are not mentioned as part of the package, so plan to change into dry clothes in the vehicle or back at your hotel.
