The experience

You're picked up at your hotel lobby at the time you choose, then driven along the blue coastline toward the mountains. The ride itself is a photo stop. The water and the road are the kind of thing you came to Jamaica to see. Once you reach the Blue Hole, a guide meets you and stays for the next two hours. The pool is fed by a natural spring and surrounded by rainforest so thick it blocks out the noise of the towns below. The water is bright blue and deep enough to jump into from the edge, or you can swing on Tarzan ropes strung between the trees, or wade in and swim under the caves.

After the pool, a five-minute hike through the woods takes you to Secret Falls, where the water cascades down and you can stand under it. This is where most of the photos happen. The whole thing (the drive, the swimming, the waterfall, the hike) takes five to six hours door to door. When you're done, the driver takes you to Scotchies, Jamaica's #1 jerk chicken and pork spot, for lunch if you want it (you pay separately). Then back to your hotel.
