The experience

The day starts with pickup from your resort in an air-conditioned vehicle. Your guide drives past Rose Hall Great House and Greenwood Great House, slowing down so you can photograph the 18th-century plantation homes and hear their histories. You'll pass through Runaway Bay and Discovery Bay, where brief stops let you capture the coastline and the town's colonial landmarks before heading to Dunn's River Falls.

At Dunn's River Falls, you climb the cascades in a human chain led by experienced guides. The total climb from the beach to the top is roughly 600 feet, with pools along the way where you stop to swim and take photos. There's a natural "massage parlour" where the water cascades hard enough to ease your shoulders. Exit points are marked if you want to turn back early. Those who prefer to watch can stay on the terrace.

After the falls, you board a 50-foot bamboo raft on the White River. The captain navigates and shares stories about the area while the raft drifts downriver. At a midway stop called the spa, you get a limestone foot massage while sitting on the raft. You can also try a tire swing, order a cold drink or beer, or take a dip in the water. The captain stops again for photos before the final stretch back. The limestone bedrock filters the river so the water stays clear even after rain.
