Step-by-step itinerary
Visit and climb Dunn's River Falls
- Arrive at Dunn's River Falls
- Climb the falls or watch
The experience
The activity runs 2.5 hours and centers on one thing: climbing the limestone terraces of Dunn's River Falls as they cascade down to the beach. The guide meets you at pickup and drives you there in an air-conditioned vehicle. Once you arrive, you choose whether to climb the 600-foot ribbon of water or stay in the pools and watch. The climb is not technical (you're moving up natural rock steps with water flowing over them), but it does demand a moderate level of fitness and balance on wet stone. If climbing isn't your plan, the pools at the base and along the way are deep enough to swim in, and the whole site is built for both options.
Entry to the falls is included, as is a complimentary soda or water when you arrive. You'll need to bring swimwear and a towel, or rent water shoes on-site. The operator doesn't provide those. The guide stays with the group throughout, answering questions about the falls and the area. Public transportation options exist nearby if you prefer not to use the pickup service.
