The experience

The tour runs five to seven hours and moves through three distinct landscapes. You start inland, traveling winding roads through the Jamaican countryside to reach Nine Miles, where Bob Marley was born. There you walk the grounds with your guide, see his tomb and his mother's, visit the chapel where he spent time, and can join in with a live band playing Marley songs before browsing souvenirs. The guide knows the details of his life and shares them as you move through the site.

From Nine Miles, the route takes you to Dunn's River Falls, a stepped waterfall that drops toward the sea. You hike to the top with an experienced guide who sets the pace and stops at small pools along the way so you can swim or take photos. If climbing all the way isn't your plan, there are exit points at lower levels. On the drive back, you pass through Fern Gully, a lush ravine where you can stop to look at the plants and buy from roadside vendors if you want. The day ends in Ocho Rios town, where you have time for lunch at a local spot like Margaritaville, Ultimate Jerk or Scotchies, and can shop the craft market or duty-free stores.
